Our Approach
At HT Mediation, we hold that the people in conflict are the ones best placed to resolve it. Our work
is not to impose a solution, but to create the conditions in which one can be reached — through
attentive listening, honest conversation, and an unwavering respect for each party’s right to shape
their own outcome.
We take the time to understand what matters to each person and to surface what has gone unsaid,
so that both sides can move toward an agreement they recognise as their own. Resolutions reached
this way tend to hold, because they belong to those who made them.
Professional background
Helen Turner founded HT Mediation after a career spanning the voluntary, public, and private
sectors, most recently supporting whistleblowers for nearly 10 years within the health service. The
years spent alongside people navigating institutional conflict made one thing plain: too many
professional relationships are left fractured by disputes that, handled differently, could have ended
otherwise. HT Mediation was established to offer that different path.
Helen is an experienced leader in healthcare and the voluntary sector, with a long-standing
commitment to peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and the building of internal and external
environments in which people can be their best. Her professional life has been shaped by the quiet,
demanding work of helping others to be heard — through speak-up cultures, difficult conversations
between colleagues, and the careful work of bringing parties around a common table.
It is this combination — leadership grounded in practice, deep familiarity with conflict, and an
unforced commitment to listening — that she now brings to mediation.

Central to our practice:
• Conflict resolution — guiding parties from entrenched positions to workable agreements
they can both live with.
• Negotiation — surfacing what matters most to each side, and finding the ground on which
movement becomes possible.
• Active listening — attending closely enough that each person feels genuinely heard, often
for the first time in the dispute.
• Empathy and impartiality — holding real care for every party without aligning with any.
• Problem-solving — identifying what needs to change, in practical terms, for the parties to
move forward.

TESTIMONIALS
Helen Turner is an excellent mediator; she takes time and care to understand what drives people and works towards constructive strength-based solutions. She is calm, insightful and understands human nature very well. It was a pleasure to work with her, managing a situation and minimising conflict in our area.
Kanchan Jadeja, Director Spiritus Consulting
During my time in the housing industry, Helen led several sessions for us on resoling conflicts and self-empowerment. The results were remarkable. You could see barriers crumbling, people finding common ground and - likely for the first time - finding and owning their life stories. Highly, highly recommended.
