CMC Fixed Fee Scheme

The CMC Fixed Fee Mediation Scheme offers cost-effective mediation for disputes valued at £50,000 or less, with fees set according to the claim amount and session length.

The Civil Mediation Council (CMC) Fixed Fee Mediation Scheme (FFMS) is designed to provide parties in disputes of £50,000 or less with access to a qualified mediator at a predictable, fixed cost. The scheme is voluntary, and both parties must agree to mediate before approaching a mediator. It is suitable for civil disputes, including consumer and commercial matters, and aims to offer a more affordable alternative to litigation.

Fees and Session Structure

Fees are determined by the value of the claim and the expected duration of the mediation session:

Claims up to £5,000: £75 + VAT per party for a 1-hour telephone/video session, or £125 + VAT per party for a 2-hour session.
Claims between £5,000 and £15,000: £320 + VAT per party for a 3-hour session.
Claims between £15,000 and £50,000: £445 + VAT per party for a 4-hour session.
Additional hours: £100 + VAT per party per hour if the session exceeds the scheduled time.

All fees must be paid in advance to confirm the mediator’s appointment.
